The difference

Where BackPR is different

Free for nonprofits

Nonprofits pay nothing to BackPR. nextRec doesn't publish its pricing or any nonprofit pricing; its terms charge setup fees and a monthly fee for each user license.

Free onboarding and data import

Setup and data import are free at BackPR. nextRec's terms charge setup fees and fees for professional services such as customizing the system.

Export your data anytime

Export your data from BackPR anytime, for free. nextRec's terms give you 30 days after the agreement ends to ask in writing for a file of your data, and only if your account is paid in full.

Card rates you can look up

For nonprofits, BackPR payments run on Stripe at Stripe's standard, published rates with nothing added, and you choose whether to absorb them or pass them on. nextRec doesn't publish rates for Xplor Pay, its built-in processing.

In fairness

What nextRec does well

nextRec is a broad system for parks and recreation departments: activity registration with conflict checking, facility bookings and rentals with digital contracts, memberships, point of sale and an online store, built-in email marketing and custom reports. It adds self-service kiosks, a mobile app, a virtual waiting room for busy registration days, integrations with GIS, lighting and access-control systems, a REST API and live chat support around the clock.
