1. October 22, 2026 · New

   Open data hub, youth program statistics and links to every section of each state page

   • The open data hub publishes our state rules, registration software pricing index, youth nonprofit counts, template index and live program directory statistics as free JSON and CSV files (CC BY 4.0).
   • AI assistants can look up this data directly through the BackPR data MCP server, with no sign-in.
   • Copies of the datasets are on Zenodo (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23577823), Hugging Face, Kaggle and GitHub. The data MCP server is listed in the official MCP Registry as com.backpr/data.
   • New page: youth program statistics 2026, with each fact dated and sourced.
   • Every section of each state page now has its own link, for example /resources/states/texas#ratios, and each state's row on the four national rules pages has its own link too.

2. October 21, 2026 · Correction

   Arizona, Alabama and Arkansas rule wording

   • Arizona: clarified that "any other person who has responsibility for the care or treatment of the minor" (A.R.S. §13-3620) may include childcare, camp and youth program staff, and that their direct supervisors must also report.
   • Alabama: clarified that coaches and camp staff aren't named separately but may be covered by the listed roles.
   • Arkansas: clarified that the Office of Early Childhood's childcare licensing covers summer day camps.
   • Alabama: confirmed against the official code that camps that don't run year-round apply for their permit "within 60 days prior to the opening date of the camp" (Ala. Admin. Code ch. 420-3-21).

3. October 21, 2026 · New

   National rules pages, new guides and switching guides

   • Four pages compare one rule across all 50 states and DC: staff ratios, mandated reporter laws, summer camp licensing and background checks.
   • Guides: how to start a daycare, how to start a youth sports league, VBS registration and summer camp budget.
   • Guides for customers affected by recent deals: PlayMetrics' merger with Sports Connect, its purchase of SportsEngine and Procare's purchase of Playground.
   • BackPR for AI assistants: how admins and families use BackPR from Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants.
   • Program finder pages now show only the program types listed in each city or state.

4. October 21, 2026 · Correction

   The State of Youth Programs 2026: camp counts and revenue note

   • We applied one camp-license definition to every state (see the report's method). States where both day and overnight camps need a camp license went from 19 to 18, states where only some camps do from 22 to 20, and jurisdictions with no statewide camp license from 10 to 13.
   • We clarified that the under-$50,000 revenue band includes organizations with no revenue amount on file.

   Program finder, share kit and the report's pricing index

   • Launched the program finder: licensed childcare centers, after-school programs and camps from official state data.
   • Added a share kit for umbrella organizations, with two embeddable widgets.
   • Published the pricing index behind The State of Youth Programs 2026 as a CSV file.

   • Published The State of Youth Programs 2026: youth and community nonprofits by state, three state rules and what registration platforms publish about price.

7. October 20, 2026 · Correction

   School-age ratios for Alaska and California

   • Corrected the school-age ratios for Alaska (now 1:18, was 1:10) and California (now 1:14, was 1:12). We had shown a preschool ratio by mistake.

8. October 19, 2026 · New

   State rules library now covers all 50 states and DC

   • The state rules library now covers childcare licensing, staff ratios, camps, background checks, medication and mandated reporting in every state and DC, with links to sources.
   • Added free templates with Spanish versions of the family forms and the nonprofit status checker.

   Registration software pricing report and free calculators

   • Published what registration software costs, with each platform's published terms and sources.
   • Added the first free calculators for program directors.
