Fiscal sponsors
A clear registration option for the projects you sponsor
A fiscal sponsor carries the legal and financial responsibility for projects that may not have their own tax-exempt status. BackPR gives the registered nonprofit sponsor a free way to take registration and card payments, and gives every project a clear answer on eligibility.
What a member nonprofit pays
Free applies to registered nonprofits in the United States. Other organizations can request a quote.
Who you are
A sponsor with many projects
A fiscal sponsor is a 501(c)(3) that provides financial and administrative oversight to projects that may not have their own tax-exempt status. The sponsor holds funds, provides back-office support and is accountable for how the money is used.
The projects can be small and volunteer-run: a neighborhood arts program, a youth sports team, a mentoring project or a community event. They may not have staff, a bank account or a software budget.
The sponsor may already handle payroll, grants, contracts and insurance. It may not want another vendor to manage. A clear registration and payment option can keep project fees in a process the sponsor already understands.
- Projects that collect program fees but have no back office of their own.
- A sponsor that needs to know who holds the account and who is responsible for the money.
- Small budgets that cannot absorb another subscription.
- Projects that start, pause or move to another sponsor.
- Families who prefer to register in Spanish.
- Records the sponsor can export.
Eligibility depends on the organization that holds the account. A sponsored project is not automatically a registered nonprofit.
What sponsored projects need
A simple process that does not create a new finance problem
A clear account owner
The sponsor and the project need to agree on which organization holds the BackPR account, who can see the money and who answers family questions.
Low overhead for small projects
A project that collects a few hundred dollars in fees may not be able to absorb another subscription, so a free option helps.
Records the sponsor can export
The sponsor needs to see what came in and what went out. A project should not create a separate spreadsheet that nobody reconciles.
A clean exit
Projects start, pause and sometimes move. Data export and no long-term contract make a change less painful.
How BackPR fits
Registration and payments, with eligibility confirmed at sign-up
BackPR handles online registration, payments, forms, check-in and parent messaging for youth and community programs. Families register; staff see the roster and the payments.
The free option applies to a registered nonprofit organization. A fiscal sponsor is usually the registered nonprofit. A sponsored project may not be separately registered. BackPR confirms which organization holds the account and whether the free option applies at sign-up. If you're not sure, email us before a project starts.
Projects that are not registered nonprofits can request a quote. BackPR pricing for other organizations is quote-based.
Free for the registered nonprofit
No subscription and no BackPR fees for the organization that qualifies. The free option is how BackPR works for registered nonprofits, not a trial.
Free setup and import
BackPR sets up the account and brings over families and programs from a current system or spreadsheets. The organization reviews everything before families see it.
Data export at any time
A nonprofit can export its data for free. There is no long-term contract and no exit fee.
Resources for projects
Free printable templates and a state rules library can help a project get organized, whether or not it uses BackPR. The library is general information, not legal advice.
BackPR is available in the United States only.
What your organization gets
A free option for the projects that qualify
There is no fee to the sponsor to share BackPR, and no BackPR fees for a registered nonprofit that chooses it. Standard Stripe processing fees apply.
You do not need to run registration for every project. Point project leaders to the free option page and let them decide.
When a project is ready, BackPR sets up the account and imports the data. The project and sponsor review the programs, families and forms before families see them.
- A free option to share with the programs you support.
- No fee to your organization to share it.
- No BackPR fees for a registered nonprofit that chooses it. Standard Stripe processing fees apply.

- Free templates programs can use, whether or not they use BackPR.
- A state rules library programs can read and share.
- A clear answer on eligibility at sign-up.
BackPR has no partnership with any fiscal sponsor. This page describes an offer to share, not an existing partnership. A paid membership, sponsorship or co-branding is not part of this offer.

FAQ
Fiscal sponsors questions
Are fiscally sponsored projects free?
It depends on how the project is set up. BackPR is free for registered nonprofits. A fiscal sponsor is usually the registered nonprofit, while a sponsored project may not be separately registered. BackPR confirms what applies at sign-up. If you're not sure, email us before a project starts. Projects that are not registered nonprofits can request a quote.
Who should hold the BackPR account?
Tell us which organization is responsible for the money and can pass BackPR's nonprofit check. That may be the sponsor or the project, depending on the structure. We'll confirm the account structure at sign-up.
Can a project keep its data if it leaves?
A nonprofit can export its data at any time for free. There is no long-term contract and no exit fee.
Do you charge the sponsor a fee for each project?
Not for projects under the sponsor's nonprofit account: BackPR's nonprofit option has no subscription and no BackPR fees, and standard Stripe processing fees apply. A project that holds its own account and is not a registered nonprofit can request a quote.
Do you offer grants or funding for projects?
No. BackPR is software, not a grant program. This page does not offer funding, sponsorship or paid memberships.
Can families use BackPR in Spanish?
Yes. Registration and parent screens are available in Spanish. Email support can also answer in Spanish.
What does a project that is not a nonprofit pay?
Pricing for other organizations is quote-based. Request a quote before the project starts so there are no surprises.
Is there a contract?
No long-term contract and no exit fee. Data can be exported at any time for free.
