Pushpay ChMS (formerly Church Community Builder) is church management software that takes event registrations and payments through forms, alongside Pushpay's giving and church apps. Pricing is by quote, with 1- to 3-year contracts. BackPR is free for nonprofits, has no long-term contract and lets families register in English or Spanish.

| | BackPR | Pushpay ChMS |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Youth and community programs: camps, after-school, childcare, classes, sports, schools and churches. | Churches and Catholic parishes and dioceses. The ChMS (formerly Church Community Builder) covers people, groups, events and registration forms, check-in, volunteers and communication, alongside Pushpay Giving and church apps. |
| Cost for nonprofits | $0 to BackPR: no subscription and no BackPR fees. Stripe's processing fees still apply. | No published nonprofit pricing. Qualified pre-launch church plants can get a 12-month no-cost grant for the full Pushpay platform. |
| Pricing | Nonprofits: $0. Other organizations: custom quote. | Not published; quoted after a demo. The ChMS comes in Core, Advanced and Complete plans; event registration, forms and check-in are listed in Advanced and Complete, not Core. Billed monthly or yearly by automatic bank payment. |
| Fees added to what families pay | None from BackPR. | No Pushpay fee for families is published. People paying through ChMS forms can't choose to cover processing fees. |
| Payment fees | Stripe's standard processing rates. For nonprofits, BackPR adds nothing on top. | Not published; Pushpay's help center says to contact it for your rates. Processing fees are charged again when a payment is refunded. Pushpay Events adds a $2 service fee per attendee for tickets over $20, billed to the church. Pushpay is your only payment processor during the contract. |
| Contract | No long-term contract. Cancel anytime with no exit fees. | 1-, 2- or 3-year contracts; ending early means paying the rest of the contract. Standard terms run 36 months unless the order form says otherwise and renew for the same length unless you give written notice 90 days before the end. Fees aren't refundable and can rise up to 10% a year after each term. |
| Onboarding and data import | Free, including data import. | No setup fees. Onboarding includes a project plan and a dedicated manager, and Pushpay's support team helps migrate your data. Extra coaching costs more (prices not published). |
| Spanish for families | Yes. | Staff can switch the ChMS web app and LEAD app to Spanish, and web giving pages and receipts come in Spanish. ChMS forms have no language setting, and content the church writes isn't translated. |

Where BackPR is different:
- **Free for nonprofits:** Nonprofits pay nothing to BackPR. Pushpay prices its plans by quote and publishes no nonprofit pricing.
- **No multi-year contract:** BackPR has no long-term contract; cancel anytime. Pushpay offers 1-, 2- and 3-year contracts, and canceling early means paying the rest of the contract. Its standard terms renew automatically unless you give written notice 90 days before the end.
- **E-signed waivers:** Parents sign waivers and forms online, and registration can't finish without the required ones. Pushpay's help center says ChMS forms can't be signed digitally and suggests a typed name with an "I agree" checkbox.
- **Registration in English and Spanish:** Families can register in English or Spanish. Pushpay's staff apps and giving pages offer Spanish, but its help center says ChMS forms have no language setting.

What Pushpay ChMS does well: Pushpay combines its ChMS with Pushpay Giving, a custom church app and the LEAD app for leaders. Forms take payments with discount codes and can register up to 10 people in one payment. Check-in includes kiosks, name tags, parent pickup labels, room capacity limits and text alerts to parents. It also offers volunteer scheduling, service planning, follow-up workflows, more than 80 integrations, onboarding with a dedicated manager and a 12-month no-cost grant for qualified pre-launch church plants.

**Can BackPR import our data from Pushpay ChMS (formerly Church Community Builder)?**
Yes, for free. Send us an export from Pushpay ChMS (formerly Church Community Builder) or any spreadsheet, and we'll set up your families, participants and programs in BackPR.

**We're in a Pushpay contract. Can we start with BackPR now?**
Yes. We can set up and import your data now, so you're ready when your term ends. Check your Pushpay agreement first: its standard terms make Pushpay your only payment processor during the term.
